BBQ Favorites Gluten-Free

Enjoy your Fourth of July festivities with these gluten-free AND fabulous BBQ favorites! Celebrating Independence Day just got even easier with these recent gluten-free alternatives.

Of course, bun-free is always an option, but who doesn't like to enjoy the occasional fully loaded burger or hot dog at a BBQ?!

While Kinnikinnick Foods has offered gluten-free hamburger buns for a few years now, it wasn't until this Spring that Udi's and Rudi's introduced their own gf buns. Find them at your local health food store or online here: Udi's Gluten-Free Classic and Whole Grain Hamburger and Hot Dog Buns and Rudi's Gluten-Free Multigrain Hamburger Buns and Hot Dog Rolls.

We've stocked our freezer with a few varieties for any last-minute summer grilling.

While we often choose to grill fresh chicken, steak and fish the occasional hot dog is still a favorite for a quick, throw-on-the-grill summer BBQ. Many Wellshire Farms, Aidells and Applegate Farms products are Gluten-Free, Casein-Free and Dairy-Free. Read labels carefully to insure that you select the correct product for you and your family. We particularly like these companies for their all natural and ethical meat products. A very transparent letter about Wellshire Farms' stance on Gluten-Free can be found here.

Wellshire Farms makes an incredibly delicious gluten-free all-beef frank. Their site has an allergen database that allows you to search for products that meet your specific dietary needs.

Aidells has a handy chart with allergen break-downs for each of their products here. We especially like their artichoke and garlic!

Applegate carries many organic and gluten-free products, ranging from chicken and turkey dogs to pork cocktail franks and including an organic all-beef, gluten-free hot dog.

While these are a more natural variety of sausage and are gluten-free, these products are still considered to be processed meats and are often higher in sodium. Remember to eat in  moderation:-)

TOP IT OFF! What would your BBQ be without sauces and condiments? Here are a few of our favorites:

Mayonnaise: Spectrum Organics Canola Mayo (and other varieties)

BBQ Sauce: Annie's Naturals (Original, Smokey Maple, Sweet and Spicy,  Hot Chipotle) and Gayle's Sweet 'n' Sassy (Several varieties)

Ketchup: Annie's Ketchup and Organicville Ketchup

Mustard: Organicville Dijon and Yellow

Relish: Organicville Sweet Relish

Worcestershire Sauce: Lea & Perrins Original and Reduced Sodium (NOT Thick Classic)

Now it's time to get grilling! Happy Fourth of July all.

Eat Inspired!
