Garlic contains allicin, the compound responsible fore crushed garlic's strong smell, provides antimicrobial and antibacterial properties which may help to prevent infections and ward off certain illnesses. Fresh, crushed garlic appears to be most effective, although roasted is a personal favorite. Don't be shy, add more garlic!
